Barbie Tribute Collection: Lucille Ball
2023 American Package Design Awards Winner

Lucille Ball (1911-1989) was an American actress whose comedic genius and business acumen secured her status as both a television icon and a trailblazer for women in entertainment. Ignoring naysayers in her hometown of Jamestown, NY, Lucy moved to Hollywood, CA in 1933, landing film roles at major studios such as RKO and MGM. Forming Desilu Productions with husband Desi Arnaz, the couple created and starred in I Love Lucy (1951-57), a situation comedy centered on the loving marriage of Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, and Lucy's sidesplitting antics.
Together they built Desilu Studios, using their talents to shape the future of television production. Ball became the first woman to run a major film studio when she obtained full ownership of Desilu in 1962. She was inducted into the TV Hall of Fame in 1984 and remains beloved throughout the world, her legendary brilliance enduring to this day. Lucille Ball Barbie® is dressed in a dazzling blue dress and white jacket, reminiscent of the '50s fashion era. Her look is complete with blue heels, pearl drop earrings and an aquamarine ring.
